Contrary to the traditional classroom approach in our State primary schools where teaching tends to be directive and students are passive learners, the special coaching classes create the appropriate learning conditions for students and some of these are:

1.     Emphasis is placed on the socialization process where students are encouraged to interact among themselves and to share their interests and to mutually support each other in the learning process.

2.      The ‘teacher’ acts more as a facilitator an encourages the students to become more autonomous in the learning process. Moreover, the facilitators are young and can be relate more effectively to the social and cultural environment of the students.

3.      The pedagogy applied emphasis personal practice, such as reading aloud to the class and promotes sharing through peer to peer transfer of learning.
